A perfect way to end a chilly day walking around Lake Kawaguchi and exploring the Fuji surrounding area We walked in on a whim on the way back from our hotel, which is a bit out of the way of Kawaguchiko Station, but finding New Akaike was such a treat! The owner was a champion boxer in the late 90's, early 2000's, it was SO cool to see the posters everywhere. The meals were cozy and felt like what we, as tourists, could imagine a home cooked meal after a long day feels like. My partner got the venison curry, which was a little spicy with a tomato base, and I got the classic tempura shrimp curry! Tasty and comforting, you just can't go wrong here.

Friendly guy that can speak some english! English menu available. Local fish menu tendon and deer curry. Nice view and nice service. Self service for water (free)
